Jessica Gunkel Martin

Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist

I am a woman who has traveled many of the same paths as you and have found healing, strength and resilience I previously did not know were there. My family is transracial, formed partially through adoption. In and out of the therapy room, I am passionate about forming secure connections with those we love. I enjoy helping others discover resources to move forward in our lives with less anxiety, more attunement and increased peace.

Earlier in my life, I earned a Bachelors of Music Education undergraduate degree from Wichita State University while singing and playing the violin. I enjoyed several years working in youth ministry and staying at home with my children before returning to school at Friends University for a Masters of Science in Family Therapy degree. In my free-time, if I am not driving around my three teenagers, I enjoy any combination of music, reading and learning about other cultures.

I view therapy through a lens of attachment, which means I consider the space between people as much as the space within us. Connection is where I believe healing happens. With that in mind, I love helping people gain tools in a collaborative therapeutic place. In this space, we can work together to discover where you flourish in the inside and thrive on the outside.
